Greek Octopus Salad Recipe

Updated: Apr 22, 2021

This is my Greek Octopus Salad Recipe. I gained this recipe after watching a tv show as a kid. Ive slightly changed it and im no Greek so perhaps its now just a Wet Mammal Octopus Salad. Who knows. What matters though is that it is absolutely delicious.

Prep Time: 15 mins - 5 mins if Octopus is already cleaned.

Cook Time: 45mins+

Total Time: 1hr+

Taste 9/10

As always sorry guys I dont really measure this stuff out I just kind of eye it in, but here are the rough measurements used: You can use those as a rough guide but ultimately its upto you and your taste buds for what you enjoy most . Just remember you can always add more of ingredients to suit but it can be very hard for lots of things to remove once they've been put inside.

Greek Octopus Salad Ingredients

1 Whole Fresh Octopus

Greek Feta

Black Pepper

Kalamata Olive

Sea Salt Tomato

Red Pepper (Capsicum)

Lettuce

Olive Oil

1 x Lime

2 x Garlic Cloves

White Wine (Sauv Blanc)

Fresh Parsley

Items Needed

A Sharp Knife

A Mixing Bowl

A Pot

Start by cleaning your octopus aka removing as much skin as you can be bothered to remove.

Then we will be boiling up some water in a big pot with a little pinch of salt.

Top Tip:

I then hold the Octopus by its hood (head) and dip him into the boiling water tentacles first a couple of times which will cause the tentacles to curl up. Great little bit of presentation.

Then ill add to the pot some Sauv Blanc you could get away with most white wines. Then reduce the heat and let the pot simmer for about a 45mins to an hour, if its a really big occy then maybe even longer just simmer the octopus until its super tender. You can test before you fully remove it from the pot using the side of a spoon on the flesh. Whilst waiting you can chop up your tomatoes and red pepper (capsicum). Finely Slice 2 Garlic Cloves and chop up your parsley.

This particular Octopus was perfectly tender indeed. So cut him up into bitesize pieces.

Then its just a case of chucking all the other ingredients into a bowl whilst the occy cools down a little. So chopped tomatoes, red pepper known to some as capsicum, kalamata olive, olive oil, freshly squeezed lime juice, chopped parsley and sliced garlic cloves. Mix it all around and add the chopped up occy. Continue to mix the goodness.

Prepare your salad of Chopped Tomatoes, Chopped Red Pepper, Kalamata Olives, Lettuce and Feta.

Then serve the octopus on top of your salad and enjoy another epic octopus dish. Crack some salt and pepper on if you feel the need.

I hope you've enjoyed this meal and if you've got other Octopus recipes drop them in the comment section below im always game for new occy dishes.
